A Living Memorial To Seabiscuit
-Ridgewood Ranch Reintroduces Seabiscuit Descendants-
Not since the time of Charles Howard have there been this many descendants of Seabiscuit gathered at Ridgewood Ranch in Willits, Ca., the home of the legendary racehorse. Nearly 55 years have passed since the complete disbursement sale of the ranch following the death of Charles
Howard in 1951. Four descendants of Seabiscuit, including three mares and one colt, have now been added to the ranch and will be available for viewing seasonal walking tours. (For tour schedules, please, contact the Seabiscuit Heritage Foundation.)
American Legend Horse Farm is working in collaboration with Ridgewood Ranch to reestablish and preserve the bloodline of Seabiscuit at Ridgewood and is committed to producing the next generation of quality racehorses.
Since Seabiscuit was America's horse, we are proud to present both Thoroughbred and Appendix Quarter Horse descendants of Seabiscuit bred for racing.
We believe the bloodlines of Seabiscuit are definitely worth preserving and the work that we do here is dedicated to the memory of Seabiscuit. Visitors are very excited to see his descendants at Ridgewood, especially our newest lil' biscuit. This foal is named Dashing Lil' Biscuit after the tradition of Charles Howard, who called his first seven foals his "Lil' Biscuit's". Eventually, we would like to have another descendant of Seabiscuit racing again.
We also hope to offer foals for sale to support the fund-raising efforts of the Seabiscuit Heritage Foundation. The Foundation is committed to preserving the historical buildings on the ranch, now declared an endangered historical site.
For information or reservations regarding docent led walking tours of Ridgewood Ranch, please, contact the Willits Chamber of Commerce at (707)459-7910 or for online reservations visit http://www.willits.org/.
With best wishes,
